The Chronicles of the Proto-Guyver: Relics of the Past Chapter 1 *story takes place 12 years prior to the events of “Bio Booster Armor Guyver”* *all Native American dialogue in this story is translated for the sake of an easier read* The sunshine gleamed off of Lake Okelousa’s blue surface. Yuki sat on a nearby stone pondering the mysteries of nature as she usually did on off days from her training. The Toltec mountains surrounded the clear watered lake and gave Yuki a sense of security. She had lived in this mountain Indian village since she was an infant and loved the nature that surrounded her. For as long as she could remember, stories of the modern outside world had depressed her. It seemed to her that her people were the only ones left on the planet that understood nature and lived with it rather than destroy it. The tribe elders would tell tales of war, poverty and manipulation beyond the quiet mountains of her village. None of that for her, Yuki thought. Some time ago, it became apparent to Yuki that the outside world may someday threaten her people’s way of life. That is something that she could not allow to happen. Horror stories of what westerners have done to Native American tribes throughout history left a bad taste in her mouth. Her eyes squinted with anger when she thought about the harsh treatment native people have received. “Yuki”, yelled a voice from behind her. Yuki suddenly snapped out of her meditative state. She knew the owner of the voice before she turned around. It was Minqua, her trainer. “It was too easy to sneak up behind you, young one” he said in a rather matter of fact tone. The fact was Minqua was the best warrior in the entire tribe. Even the name Minqua meant “stealthy”. Of course he could sneak up on me, she thought to herself. “We have another lesson scheduled for tomorrow, do we not?” he asked. “Of course, I’m looking forward to it as always” Yuki said, trying her best to sound as tough as him. “You’re looking forward? If you ask me, you’re looking tired!” laughed Minqua. Yuki blushed slightly at the remark, but it rang true. She was tired. She had trained with Minqua almost non stop for months. Ever since she was initiated into the warriors fold, she had tried hard not to show signs of fatigue. It was, after all a rather rare occasion for a female to be allowed to train as a warrior in her tribe. At only 19 years old, she felt lucky to even get the chance. Yuki figured she was allowed to train because of her past. Both of her parents died in what the elders called a ‘freak accident’. And due to that fact, Yuki had always had to fend for herself and had been in many fights growing up. Yuki straightened her jaw and said “I’ll be there tomorrow, Minqua. You can count on that.” “Ok, ok. Meet at the Huichol Caverns tomorrow at sun up.” Minqua said. “You will be battle tested against me. You’d better get some good sleep tonight young one, you’re going to need it.” * * * Chronos Headquarters, Arizona. Nearly a mile under the desert, Zoalord Edward Carleon sat at his desk in his lavish office. With his perfect designer suit and his flowing black hair resting on his shoulders, he looked the part of a person of great importance. Carleon had just recently been reassigned to the Arizona base by Lord Archanfel. Two Chronos generals stand in full battle dress across from his desk. “Sit.” Said Carleon, smoothly. “Yes sir” the generals said in unison as they take seats across from him. Carleon sat back in his leather chair. “Your current objective has been changed, men. You will now be on a search and destroy mission.” “Sir? Dr. Balcus had given us direct orders to…” Carleon cut him off. “An order from above Dr. Balcus has come down gentlemen.” Carleon smirked as he spoke. “This order has come directly from Lord Archanfel himself.” The generals shuttered at the mention of their lords name. “Lord Archanfel has given us orders” thought one general to himself. “Something serious must be going on.” The other general spoke up. “Sir, may we inquire what our target will be?” Carleon’s face took on a serious look. “An item more valuable than anything on earth. It’s called a Guyver unit, it will be your target. The difficult part is that it’s carried by an activated Guyver. It’s location has been traced to just south of here. Lord Archanfel feels this Guyver is planning an attack on this base. You must not allow this to happen. You will be given command of extra zoanoids in addition to your normal company for this mission.” “Pardon for asking sir, but what is a Guyver?” asked one general. “Allow me to answer that” boomed a voice from the doorway of the office. Dr. Balcus stood imposing, with his shadow stretched long from the light behind him. Balcus walked slowly across the room as he spoke, his traditional white robe dragging on the floor behind him. The generals and Carleon stood in respect. “From what we know, which is very little, the Guyver is a virtual suit of armor that bonds with a living host. The various weapons it possesses are unknown but we do know they are quite powerful. Its age is unknown, but we do know that it predates Lord Archanfel himself. It is imperative that we recover these final two units. ” Balcus smirked. “The wearer of this armor is one of the first humans ever created and has been in control of the Guyver for millennia. It is your mission to draw him out so that we may recover his control metal and the one he’s carrying once and for all.” One general cleared his throat, “Lord Balcus, with respect, are we to be bait for this…Guyver?” “Precisely General Amanato, you will be the bait.” Balcus smiled. “You will be given extra personnel of course. Now, gather your men and report to the hanger for deployment. Dismissed!” The two generals departed quickly leaving Carleon and Balcus alone. “What’s the matter Edward? Something troubling you?” Balcus asked. “Sending a force of Zoanoids should suffice, but with the power of this mysterious thing yet unknown…” Carleon let it hang. Carleon looked a bit uncomfortable. “It’s just something about this Guyver. An order coming from Lord Archanfel himself is rare. It puts me on edge. Just how powerful is the thing?” “I wouldn’t concern yourself with it too much; you know the power you and your brother’s posses. Yet Lord Archanfel must see this Guyver as some sort of threat. It has eluded him for centuries upon centuries. And the fact that it has recently surfaced caused Lord Archanfel to think it must be planning something.” Balcus said. “Yes, you are correct I suppose. What could stop us?” Carleon said with a laugh. “As far as I’m concerned, nothing in this world short of me or Lord Archanfel could even scratch you. You always have been cautious Edward, it’s a good quality to posses, but do not let it get the best of you.” Balcus said like a father talking to his son. “You’re correct, sir. Thank you for your guidance.” Balcus started for the door. “Come Edward, we must prepare for the arrival of Lord Archanfel .Very soon Chronos will have possession of all 5 Guyver units in existence!” *** Huichol Caverns, Dawn A slender shadow creeps through the forest near the ancient Huichol Caverns. Using stealth, it moves from tree to tree with lightning quick speed. The figure is clutching a steel case to its chest as it runs. A ‘clunk’ can be heard as its heavy feet impact the ground beneath them. The figure is moving with purpose and determination. The shadow looks to the sky with its white eye plates. “Shit, it’s nearly daybreak already!” it said to itself. The figure looks ahead and sees the Caverns are near. “I have to make it to those caverns before daylight comes! I can’t be discovered when I’m so close!” With that, the figure takes off for the Huichol Caverns. Meanwhile, Yuki arrives at the Huichol Caverns. “Ah, I beat him here” she thought to herself. She did make it there before Minqua, but at the expense of an extra hour of sleep. She walked around the entrance to the rocky Caverns taking in its majestic beauty. She’d always liked it at the Caverns. Yuki sat down on a large, flat stone nearby and began her meditation. “I must center myself for this” Yuki thought to herself. Nearly twenty minutes passed when Yuki was snapped out of her meditative state by the sound of ground crunching under feet. Yuki opened her eyes expecting to see Minqua and the elders but instead was stunned at the sight of more than twenty strangely dressed men. “These men must be military” she thought. The men were all dressed in the same uniform, a blue and white one piece with a white helmet that covered most of their face. They all held similar weapons except for one man. The man with no weapon stepped forward and talked into his helmet microphone. “Civilian spotted in the target area. Requesting orders.” “Eliminate” came a tinny voice through the helmet. Yuki, in a state of shock, stood up and faced the strange men. The men cocked their weapons. “This is the land of my people. We have no problems with anyone, please; this must be some kind of mistake.” Yuki said in the bravest voice she could muster. “Hahahahahahaha” the men laughed in unison. “This is your land, eh?” said the leader of the group, taking his helmet off. “I claim this land for us…what are you going to do about it?” The men again shared a laugh as Yuki assumed the fighting stance she’d been taught. “How do you expect to win against this?” With that, the man, in a very painful looking manner, transformed into the most terrifying looking thing Yuki had ever seen. Yuki stepped back in terror as the monster approached her. “What’s the matter?” Gregole said as he crept ever closer. “I thought you were supposed to be tough!” the monster laughed. The monster leapt forward to grab Yuki when he received a sudden kick to the side of the face. “What the f**k!?” Gregole said as he stared down Minqua. “Yuki! Run!” cried Minqua. Yuki stared at Minqua for a long second before taking his order. She ran into the forest and hid. She positioned herself so that she could see the action going on. Seeing Minqua facing down an entire troop of armed men and a monster gave her a fleeting sense of pride mixed with horror. She immediately started formulating a plan to help. “You are not welcome here demon. Make your leave and there will be no bloodshed.” Minqua said confidently. Gregole chuckled as he spoke. “You think you are some kind of challenge to us? Are you to primitive to understand what it is to be overpowered?” “I will not warn you again” Minqua said sternly. Gregole, completely ignoring Minqua’s threat grabbed the Indian warrior by the arm. “I am incredibly stronger than you, boy! Now I’ll rip your arm off and beat you to death with it to prove it!” Gregole sneered. Gregole started to pull Minqua’s arm from its socket when a red laser beam tore through Gregole’s arm which was holding Minqua. The severed arm dropped to the ground still squirming. “What the hell?” Several uniformed men said aloud. From behind Minqua’s position, the Ancient Guyver appeared. His hard white armor gleaming in the morning sunlight. The Guyver’s face was perfectly aligned with two vertical air vents down the middle of its lower face. Its unblinking eyes stared hard. Its control metal began to shine with a bright light as it unleashed its pressure cannon at Gregole’s head, blowing it to shreds leaving a wet, dripping stump. The Zoanoids body fell lifelessly to the ground with a sick thud. Minqua’s eyes went wide with amazement. He backed away from Gregole’s body which began to dissolve into nothingness. The Ancient Guyver put his hand on Minqua’s shoulder from behind him and handed him the round steel case. “Take this and protect it with your life, I’ll will come back for it. You open it, you die. Now go!” The Guyver said in a most serious tone. Minqua ran to the forest with the case as the Guyver stepped forward to face the rest of the men. Yuki jumped out from the bush she was hiding in and scared Minqua half to death in the process. “Come on!” He said as he grabbed her arm. “What was that thing!?” Yuki exclaimed. “I don’t know but he gave me this and told me to protect it with my life. He saved mine and I at least owe that to him.” Minqua yelled as he was running at full speed. Yuki and Minqua ran as fast as they could. Behind them they could hear the carnage the Guyver was causing the Chronos soldiers. Sounds of ripping flesh and breaking bones and screams of monsters rang out in the quiet forest. After a time, the two ran out of energy and hid behind a fallen tree. Yuki and Minqua sat in shock trying to catch their breath and comprehend what just happened. “What do you think is in that case?” Asked Yuki. “I have no idea, but he said if I open it, I’ll die.” Minqua said, still breathing heavily. Yuki looked into her mentors eyes. “You saved my life back there. I owe you mine. Thank you Minqua.” “Thank me after I’m sure we survive this! That thing said he would come back for this.” He said holding up the steel case. A snapping twig turned Minqua and Yuki’s attention on two approaching Zoanoids, a Vamore and a Malcult. With blurring speed, the Malcult had Minqua by the throat. Minqua dropped the case which spilled out the prototype Guyver unit. Yuki jumped back in fear. She and Vamore spotted the glowing unit at the same time. They both dove for it. Yuki grabbed it a split second before Vamore could. As she attempted to run, Vamore grabbed her by the ankle sending her plummeting to the ground. Her head smacked into the Guyver unit. The unit blasted open and covered Yuki with light brown tentacles. Yuki screamed as the unit bored into her skin and penetrated her entire body. It was the most blazing pain she had ever felt. She was close to passing out when she collapsed to the ground. Vamore backed off and looked at Malcult. Malcult dropped Minqua who was close to suffocation. “What happened?” Vamore asked Malcult. “The unit appeared to engulf the girl. I don’t know what to make of it, but Dr. Balcus told us to recover it. Grab the body.” Malcult said confused. “Finish the tough guy first, he’s seen to much.” Vamore ordered. As Malcult reached for Minqua, Minqua jumped up and stabbed a stick into Malcult’s eye. The Zoanoid screamed in agony. Minqua glanced at Yuki’s mangled body and winced. He then took off through the forest. “Grab that f**ker!” cried Malcult holding his gushing eye. The Zoanoids caught up with Minqua easily with their speed. They surrounded the Indian warrior and circled him. Minqua was in bad shape and was severely weakened by what had happened, but he would not go down without a fight. He picked up a thick branch from the ground and held it as a weapon. “Come on demons, I’ll send you back to hell!” Minqua yelled. The Zoanoids were about to dive at him when they stopped in their tracks at the appearance of a strange figure. It was Yuki inside the Proto-Guyver armor. The Guyver was in defense mode. “What?” Exclaimed Vamore. “I’ve had enough of this shit.” Malcult yelled. The Zoanoid flung itself at the Prototype Guyver. Malcult was easily sliced in half with the Proto-Guyver’s blades. Vamore watched in shock as his fellow Zoanoid was handled with such ease. They Guyver released steam from its face vents and stepped towards Vamore. Minqua watched in awe. Vamore stood back. “Survive this you freak!” Vamore opened his shoulder cannons. The cannons charged and fired, but missed due to the Guyver’s insane speed. The Guyver ended up right in front Vamore. Without any flash, the Proto-Guyver punched straight through Vamore’s face. The limp body of the Zoanoid fell to the ground and gurgled into a liquid. Minqua stepped forward. “Yuki?” he said softly. The Proto-Guyver stared at him for a long minute and lunged at him with a glowing control metal. A split second before Minqua was split in two; the Ancient Guyver jumped in front of him and locked up with the Proto-Guyver. Both Guyver’s control metals where raging as the two locked up. Finally after a few minutes, Yuki began to take over the consciousness of the Guyver. Minqua stood back. “What…is happening…?” Yuki asked disoriented. The Ancient Guyver looked at the new host of the Proto-Guyver. “You have just made the biggest mistake of your life, kid.” *** |

Well a bit on the short side, everything seems a bit rushed but then again so was the original Guyver story. It's otherwise an interesting story.
My only real concern is the time period you're setting this fic at. It's fine if your intent is to create a totally different timeline from the original story but 12 years before the events leading to Sho becoming a Guyver means 12 years before anyone besides Alkanphel knew anything about the Guyvers or even what a Guyver was. Note from the original story that everyone at Chronos seemed clueless about the Guyver. Other than it was a artifact left behind by the Creators, most didn't even know what the dormant unit looked like. Balcus himself showed surprise at the abilities of the unit and we now know he was not privy to all of what Alkanphel knew. Alkanphel told Imakirum far more about his past than he had ever told Balcus and that was mainly because Imakirum acquired some of his memories when he was put into Alkanphel's personal Bio-Tube. So at some point you would have to explain how Chronos now seems to know so much 12 years prior to the events of the Bio-Booster Armor Guyver story line and also why, if you intend to combine your story with the original at some point, so little was known about the Guyvers in the Japan Branch. Not to mention how Guyot thought he could hide so much if Chronos already knew about the Guyver units and what they were. His interest in the unit remover for example would have been far more suspect then if they all knew what it was for. Also Alkanphel himself has, as far as we know, only been active in world affairs for the past 400 years. Prior to meeting with Balcus there is no indication he had ever left the island before. But you indicated some history between the Ancient Guyver and Alkanphel, at some point that also has to be explained. Though a little mystery for now is fine. Nothing much else to note other than the head beam would have cauterized the wound even as it sliced off the zoanoid's arm, so the stump shouldn't have bled much if at all. Also Yuki shouldn't have heard anything from the helmet since the radioed reply would have been only audible to the guy wearing the helmet. -------------------- ![]() |
