The silent darkness that surrounded John as he staggered around aimlessly followed his every step as if hiding some terrible tragedy he was yet to find. The hallway he was walking through seemed to move and warp randomly as he continued onwards and through the doorway ahead.
A small box room, empty with one small window and a single full length mirror. The rain pattered heavily against the window and lightning struck with a deafening crackle.

John stepped towards the mirror and looked in awe as he gazed upon his Guyver form for the first time, he already knew the armour’s colourings and basic look so he wasn’t too shocked by his reflection, but he’d never actually seen a full length armoured image of him self before. He gazed in amazement at the creature he saw before him as he studied the details of his new persona, his armour lit up the room a familiar sapphire and John focused on what he now knew as the energy conduits. They seemed to be everywhere, all with veins flailing off and into his armour… Possibly even his body contained within.
He looked around the room, confused as to where he was and how he’d got there, before being startled by a particularly heavy clap of thunder, the rain was coming down furiously and was now so heavy that it sounded as if the window could shatter at any minute. Returning his attention to the mirror John stumbled back seeing quite a different image to what he had expected. The mirror had been replaced by a huge purple beast that growled heavily under its breath as it starred back at him. Calming himself he timidly leant towards the creature as it mimicked his movements. John scurried back as he realised the mirror hadn’t been replaced at all, this creature, this beast was HIM! He glanced around his body as he whimpered impotently at the claws that now replaced his hands and the jagged teeth that replaced his armoured vents.

Before he had a chance to get a hold of himself the creature leapt out of the mirror and pinned John to the wood floor, he tried to fight back but he was now somehow human again and the beast easily over powered him. He screamed as the creature began to melt on top of him and as this monstrosity soaked into his body he felt a familiar rage build inside him.

“Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”!!!!!!!!!!

John looked around startled at the sunny London streets as shoppers wondered hurriedly above the Thames bank where he lay…

“Augh… A dream.”

John muttered to himself as he rubbed his pounding head into his hands. He lay exactly where he had lost consciousness, the hidden Chronos exit had now been covered with a stone wall and he lay fully healed in human form. His mind could have boggled for hours over the disappearance of this exit but he had more pressing matters to attend to… Ana was still out there somewhere and he had no idea how much of the previous days battle she had witnessed. Ignoring the dream John picked him self up and checked for wounds, he was amazed at how the unit had protected him, his leg was back intact and all traces of blood were gone from the scene. He rubbed his head as he began to traipse around to the crowded streets above the spot he’d been laying.

The streets where filled with people all oblivious to the terrible atrocities that lay hidden beneath their noses. John shuddered at the thought that all the events that had unfolded in his life recently hadn’t been noticed by anybody at all… Could Chronos really have this much control over the city… Over the entire WORLD. John shrugged past the crowds of busy weekend shoppers aimlessly as he scanned the area for any sign of Ana. He knew he wasn’t going to find her this way but where would he look with no clues, he walked into a near by pub and took a seat at the bar.

“What can I do ya for mate?”

As john replied to the bartender he pulled a picture from his wallet and placed it on the bar.

“JD, straight, no ice… Say, have you seen this girl anywhere?”

“Hey, that’s a pretty girl my friend… Sorry I can’t say I’ve ever seen her before.”

John couldn’t help but feel a hint of suspicion as the bar tender walked to the back of the bar and picked up the phone while glancing around shiftily. Could it be that even the crowds of regular citizens where a wash with Chronos operatives, the shotgun that John then caught a glimpse of under the bar was reason enough for him to decide that he wasn’t going wait to see if his paranoia was justified and he slunk out while the barman’s back was still turned.

Walking around the streets now seemed just as dangerous as being back in the heart of the Chronos base itself, every passer by could possibly be part of the organization that had flipped his life upside down. He slipped into an alley and turned into one of the many side streets. As he turned the corner a haggard old man stumbled into him and fell lazily to the floor grasping at John’s legs

“I tellsh ya… sh..she *hic* she lllurrrrrrved me sh did… ay ma *burp* mate can ya shpare us sho..so.. brurrrghhhp.”

The drunkard proceeded to wipe away at the vomit he’d just hurled onto John’s shoes with his sleeve when a group of men in black suits stopped outside the street shortly followed by the bar tender John had questioned before.

“He went thata way fellas. Came in outta the blue and then just disappeared… I’m sure it was him he mentioned the girl.”

The words of the bartender more then proved John’s worst fears as he spun back around the corner into the alley to hide kicking the drunk in the jaw as he turned. The two suits ran past the alley in the direction the bar tender had pointed and John took a deep sigh of relief as he returned to the street where the drunk lay.

“Shay… that washn.. *hic* washn’t too frieendily likes *hic*”

“SHUT UP YOU F**KING DRUNK!!!”

The drunk lay still on the floor startled by John’s anger while he listened carefully to what could only be described as a whisper in the back of his mind.

“Maverick… We have unfinished business”.

The familiar voice rang through John’s ears as he stopped dead in the street next to the drunk.

“What… Who are you?”…

“Ya knowsh me… I’ms a ya … mate *hic*”

Ignoring the drunk’s rant John tried to focus his thoughts as the voice that seemed to come from an invisible source echoed through his mind while his head shifted around searching for the voice’s owner.

“Ha, you know me boy. We Guyvers are able to communicate telepathically via the organisms on our backs… I have your girl”

“CRUCIBLE...! Where are you, you sick F**K…? Its time we finished this!”

“Just come to the centre of St James Park if you want to see the girl again”

John looked around at the on looking pedestrians, who where currently starring at him as if he were completely mad.

“H ey mate *hic* I’m ri..ghts down hereee… What kind.. of ah name is Cr…Crushible hahaha *hic*”

John grabbed the drunk by his collar and picked him up to his feet.

“You’re lucky I’ve got more important things to do… CAUSE YOU’RE REALLY BEGINNING TO PISS ME OFF!!!”

Releasing the drunk to collapse limpy back to the floor John ran off in the direction of St James park, as John sprinted towards the park he questioned his past actions, how could he have forgotten her three days ago when he first became the Guyver, he had every opportunity to find her and use his new abilities to protect her and her alone and now she was in his enemies clutches once again.

As John neared a clearing in the centre of the park he saw Crucible with Ana clutched tightly in his arms, although no one could be seen John couldn’t help but wondered why Crucible wasn’t concerned by the possibility of being seen in broad daylight.
John was about to call his armour when he realised that any attack he threw at Crucible while he had Ana in his grasp would certainly harm her as well.

“I thought the two of us where too strong to need to shield ourselves behind women Crucible… Leave her out of this”

“Did you really think I was going to leave you alive and just take a break from this battle, my sole purpose is your destruction boy and young Ana here is just a means to hurt you even more hahaha, not to mention my best chance at bringing out your more wild side.”

“LET HER GO!”

John’s command echoed through the surrounding forest as flocks of nesting pigeons retreated from the hostility in the atmosphere. Clouds began to darken and suffocate the previously blazing sun as a cool breeze swept the deserted park clearing.

“Calm yourself maverick… We wouldn’t want young Ana here to have a little accident would we?”

“You won’t harm her Crucible, not while there’s still a chance you could convince me to come back with you willingly”.

Crucible red eyes glistened intently as he put a claw to Ana’s throat and extended it slowly across the length of her tanned neck. John’s eyes narrowed as he watched a drop of blood begin to trickle down her soft skin

“You place too much value upon your life boy… Chronos doesn’t need you now that they have me, so this girl of yours is useless.”

Crucible pulled his claw back from Ana’s throat revealing her open jugular as he sliced through her flesh like it was butter. John rushed in to catch her as she dropped to his arms with a gurgle that churned John’s stomach till breaking point, he covered her throat erratically with his free hand trying to stifle the spouting red fluid that was now drenching his shirt as she began to turn bone white, her life flowed freely to the grass beneath them and soaked the entire area around her scarlet.

“NO ANA… NOT NOW… YOU CAN’T BE.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!. PLEASE ANA SPEAK TO ME… ANAAAAAAAAA!!!”

John shook her lifeless body vigorously as he screamed in dismay at her already stiffening body.
He knelt before her limp corpse motionless, his whole reason for fighting, his motivation in completely giving up his life so easily, was gone. Blood began to run through his hands as he clenched his fists tightly and tears streamed down his face. Mourning his loss he remembered back to their time together, the arguments, the fear and joy of getting their first flat together. Love, trust, friendship, lust, all swiped away without a thought and in a matter of seconds.

“Did you really think that I would care if you came back to Chronos alive or dead boy? You are nothing to me but another corpse in waiting… Just like her.”

Realising the danger he was still in as Crucible circled around him arrogantly, John kissed his dead love’s forehead and whispered to her one last good bye.

“Forgive me for what I have become my love… I’ll avenge you I promise…”
“You should care Crucible, *snif* without her I’m no different from you… That makes me… a cold hearted… KILLER!”

John leapt from his position on the floor as his armour surrounded him instinctively. He didn’t need to focus his thoughts or even utter the word Guyver, his anger was making the decisions as he lunged at lightning speed towards Crucible in a blur of blue energy. Catching John’s hands in mid flight Crucible easily matched his strength and ground his feet into the soil beneath him.

“Hm… Angry or not Maverick, you’re still not a match for my strength.”

Crucible twisted his arms and sent Maverick spiralling to the floor with a crash. Without delay John leapt to his feet with a kick to Crucible’s chest and proceeded to perform a flurry of punches all dodged and blocked easily as Crucible began to laugh at his opponent’s dispair.

“You’ll have to do better then that boy. Don’t you care about the girl you’ve lost… come on, push that unique energy system of yours?”

The glint in Crucible’s demonic red eyes was enough to encourage John to keep focused as he struggled to contain his rage.
The two exchanged an inexplicable string of punches, each unable to pass the others blocks as the weather continued to worsen and thick black clouds now completely blackened the sky.

“I’ll not tire Crucible, even if I have to fight you all the way to hell… YOU’LL PAY FOR WHAT YOU’VE DONE!!!”

Crucible stumbled back as John lay a single jab to his golden armoured jaw, the two stood there facing each other both already breathing heavily as thunder began to rumble in the distance and the first patters of rain splattered off of their armoured forms and diluted the blood that covered the area around Ana’s horrifically pale body

“Ha, a lucky punch you shit… I assure you a chance like that won’t be granted again”

Crucible leapt high into the air and extended a vibration blade before plummeting down to where John stood. Rolling to the side John barely missed the blade as it came crashing down and sunk into the rain softened ground. Taking advantage John kicked the struggling Crucible in the stomach before rolling over his back and performing another kick to his opponent’s ribs that sent him flying a few feet into the air. Not waiting for Crucible to recover John flew up after his injured foe only to be struck down by a double handed hammer punch.
John hurtled to the ground and hit with a thud as the earth beneath mushroomed up around him from the impact.

“Ha hahaha… You see, there is nothing you can do to overpower or outwit me you fool. Give up and accept your death.”

John rose to his knees and shook his head as his hands sunk into the now marsh like soil below. Lightning scattered the sky and a deep rumbling in the air became a constant reminder of this Gold demons power as rain showered down in sheets over the park arena the surrounded them.

Picking himself up John’s temper began to boil as he tensed his whole body and mind. The energy conduits around his body lit up the blackened park with a shimmering blue glow matched only by the golden aura that surrounded Crucible who was still suspended in the sky. John leapt up to meet Crucible in mid air as he descended and head butted his adversary’s control medal. The two hurtled to the ground clutching at their foreheads as they fell and collapsed to the marsh like ground with an almost tidal sized splash.

“Hahaha, you’re crazy Maverick, just as I want you to be when you change.”

“You’ve lost Crucible… I don’t care what happens to me anymore… I DON’T GIVE A DAMN AS LONG AS YOU DIE!”

John aimed his fists towards his opponent and rapidly fired several bullet shaped orbs from his knuckles in quick succession. In a swift show of agility Crucible flipped and rolled between the bullets dodging each one before zipping through their path and plunging his clawed fist into John’s chest.
John lurched back in anguish while blood spilled from his vents and clutched at Crucible’s arm as he was raised off the floor still suspended by the now blood drenched arm of Crucible, John gripped Crucible’s arm with one hand and swiped with the other. A sheet of blood splashed past Johns face as he flew in to air with the dismembered Golden arm still embedded in his chest.

“ARRGGGHHHHH!!! Uh *cough*. You have improved haven’t you boy. The death of your girl must be a real motivation to keep fighting… Huh, If I had to listen to her whimpering all the time I’d not want to join her in the after life either”

“DON’T YOU TALK ABOUT HER YOU BASTARD…ARRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!”

John let out an agonising cry as he tore the arm from his chest in a spew of blood and plummeted down to face Crucible on the ground before opening his unharmed chest plate.

Before John could even begin to charge his half Megasmasher he clutched at his temple and stumbled back while he shrieked crazily with rage filling his body. The armour’s energy conduits began to vibrate and hum with power, his body tensed uncontrollably and john felt like he was going to explode within the armour as his muscles grew and pulsated under his skin. The power that coursed through John began to sink his feet a couple of inches into the ground as the area that surrounded him began to smoke with raw energy and blue steam began to leak through the cracks now appearing on his energy conduits.

Crucible starred in awe as his opponent appeared to be dying before him for no apparent reason, the whole while John screamed inwardly to himself.

“STAY IN CONTROL! DON’T LOSE IT!”

The spherical conduits throughout his body exploded in a stream of plasma energy that surrounded John in a cocoon of sapphire light. As the cocoon began to disperse into the air, Crucible could see that the image in front of him was not that of the Guyver he’d expected, nor the creature he’d hoped for.

“What the hell is this? You should be a feral beast!”

“Looks like the transformation wasn’t exactly as you’d hoped Crucible”

John didn’t need to look at his new form, he could sense exactly how he looked as he envisioned his completely healed sleeker design and now open streaming energy conduits. He could also sense every part of the armour, every weapon and function, it was as if he and this unit where now well and truly one, the perfect bond of two organisms to now finish their adversary once and for all.

John Bolted forward with both fists glowing streams of raw blue energy as he threw a double fisted punch that exploded on contact with Crucible’s chest plate, Crucible flew back in a cloud of smoke and collided with the base of a tree.

“Now you’re gonna pay for the pain you’ve caused me Crucible… DIE YOU BASTARD!”

John jumped towards Crucible with a flying kick and then flipped over his head and extending his own vibration blades before turning to face his foe. Crucible pushed off of the tree with his feet and swiftly flew in John’s Direction with a flurry of punches, but this time it was John with the upper hand as he blocked each strike with an effortless flow before punching his fists into each other. The impact of his fists produced a burst of blue circular light in front of him and Crucible was sent hurtling back to the tree he’d pushed off from and through two more trees past that.

“What the?!! How is this possible?”

“It’s a reflective dimensional shield. Any physical attack thrown at the shield for its 2.8 second delay time is reflected with the exact same force… That was quite a punch… Boy”

John smiled as he encompassed his new found strength. The power of the Guyver was his now more then ever, he no longer needed to guess and hope for the abilities he required, he knew what the organism knew. Millions of years of history and information flooded his mind from the control medals data banks to the extent that he could have burst if not for the one desire that remained within him… The desire for revenge.
John rushed into the forest area where Crucible lay and picked him up swiftly by his throat, he then proceeded to pummel into his enemies face with punch after punch of explosive blue energy that left crucible’s head a mush of blood, tendrils and armour. In an animalistic fashion John then grabbed the joins of Crucible’s chest plates and tore them apart before chucking them to one side and plunging his fist into the gelatinous orbs beneath, both warriors screamed out, one in agonising pain, the other in lunatic delight.

As John laughed crazily at his fallen adversary his control medal began to flare and flicker wildly.
John screamed in a mixture of agony and insane hilarity as the veins around his body pulsated to life, ferociously eating at his body. His armour began to slowly twist and mutate as Crucible watched intently while slowly picking himself up from a pool of his own blood.

“This is it Maverick…*augh* All I have to do is lay low until I’ve healed while you destroy the entire city and yourself in the process, Mwahahahahahahaha… You were right, *cough* you really are a cold hearted killer now.”

Crucible clutched at his tattered gaping hole of a chest as he gasped out his victorious remarks. And sluggishly flew into the air.

“You’ll not see me again you animal, but rest assured I’ll be watching.”

“NO… CRU..CI BLE… YOU *argh* CAN’T… LET THI.. THIS H…HAPPEN TO *augh* ME ARRGGGGHH… GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”

John collapsed to the floor shrieking violently as Crucible made his escape. John began to pound the ground beneath him to an almost earthquake effect before trying to pick his now huge twisted body up, while he prayed for his sanity and ran clumsily to the direction of the park exit.

=============

Meanwhile in the depths of the hidden underground base an old bearded man in robes sat at a familiar console desk as he viewed a processing tank on the desks monitor.

“So you say he’ll be ready within two days”

A voice crackled through the intercom system of the man’s desk as he pondered the contents of the tank.

“Yes sir. It appears that the former Commander has reacted rather well with the processing considering his age. I don’t foresee any difficulties however his life span may be limited sir.”

“And what of the boy’s teacher… Has the processing begun on him yet?”

The bearded man seemed surprisingly unimpressed by the scientists report and rubbed his beard thoughtfully as he listened to the scientist continue.

“Er.. Not yet sir… We are still awaiting the Zoanoid data from Washington to go along with the files you’ve already bought with you from Japan. I believe we can benefit from at least one of their models in this new type.”

“So be it… Inform me when you begin processing”

“Of course sir, thank you for your time… Dr Balcus.”

The End.
