(also: "God-Commander")

A Zoalord is, like all of Chronos´ warriors, a genetically activated human being. At this time there are 12 Zoalords. This was not always so.

Originally, there was only one Zoalord - Archanfel. The ultimate result of the Creators ´ genetic experiments, he was capable of not only transforming from his human form into a much more powerful battleform, but also of wielding vast amounts of energy for a variety of purposes, and of commanding any number of Zoanoids with the power of his mind.

What Archanfel´s actual purpose was, remains unknown even to him. He was told that, after him, eleven other Zoalords would be created; it is obvious they were to command an army of Zoanoids, but against what enemy and why is unknown. The enormously long time-period the Creators spent creating mankind, the Zoanoids and their Zoalord seems to preclude any immediate wartime goal.

He was never to know his purpose, because his Creators left Earth and him behind. After deflecting certain doom for the entire world, Archanfel went into a deep sleep, waiting, perhaps, for better times.

After he was woken from hibernation in modern times, Archanfel and his good right hand, Hamilcar Barcas, set out to create a cabal of Zoalords, a total of 12 individuals, including Archanfel, who would possess powers like his own. To this end, eleven organic crystals, like those embedded in Archanfel´s body, were harvested and grown like pearls to sufficient size to serve as the central power crystals for the eleven lesser Zoalords.

Over the centuries, a careful selection process yielded the ten individuals who would bear power such as no mortal had ever aspired to. They are all male, although it is not known why. Not much is as yet known about the process by which the candidates were selected, nor about the actual biological process that turned them into Zoalords (It is not known, for instance, whether the crystal is implanted first, followed by the genetic awakening, or whether the Zoalord-to-be is first engineered and then fitted with a crystal). For the processing of at least one Zoalord, namely Richard Guyot, a number of proto-Zoalords was created as a means of testing the particular Zoaform; it seems likely similar experiments were ran before processing the other human Zoalords (for not all Zoalords were once human).

A possible reason why Archanfel wanted or needed twelve Zoalords for his ultimate plan, has only recently been revealed: After Barcas grew an immense space ship, using the Dead Sea as a giant incubator, it required the combined power of the Twelve, interacting with twelve power stations on the gigantic ship, to actually get it out of the atmosphere. The control structure of the ship is obviously intended for the Twelve; it seems they will be its commanders on its inevitable yourney to the stars.
Another likely reason, is that the creators originally planned to have 12 zoalords under Archanfels command. It is possible he is simply carrying out their original plan the best way he can.

During the process of converting all of mankind into Zoanoids, the Zoalords also act as global leaders, and the only warriors who can realistically oppose the deadliest enemies of Chronos: the Guyver Gigantic and the Gigantic Dark. But even their powers are taxed when they face the symbiotic killing machines.

Any Zoalord possesses immense power and incredible abilities, such as telepathic communication with any other Zoaform, flight, the wielding of radiant energy as a weapon and teleportation. These powers can be accessed even when in human form. More power and abilities, however, typically unfold when a Zoalord converts to his battleform. It seems each Zoalord has a special power in addition to those they all share - for instance, Pulukshterl commanded lightning, Guyot gravity, Yentsui could warp space. It is entirely possible Archanfel possesses ALL these abilities.

Zoalords do not appear to age after they have been processed, and several of them are centuries old.

There have been thirteen Zoalords, ten of which survive until now. They are:

ARCHANFEL - The first and most powerful Zoalord. The meaning of his name is a mystery, since it was after all given by the Creators and is therefore an alien name.

HAMILCAR BARCAS - The second Zoalord. He knows more than any other about the biology of Zoaforms. He is Chronos´ head scientist. He seems to take his name from a famous Carthaginian commander, the father of Hannibal and Hasdrubal, who almost conquered Rome in the third century B.C.

SHIN RUBEO AMNICULUS - Probably the third Zoalord. His loyalty to Archanfel, the ideals of Chronos and his friends is unshakeable. He is Armenian; the name "Shin" can mean many things, including "innermost" and "true". Amniculus is Latin for "Small river".

WAFERDANOS - Once a different experiment of the Creators, he was never human, indeed, his Zoacrystal served to make him more human. He has now returned to his original form - that of a thinking, moving forest. Waferdanos appears in the anonymously written Voyage Curieux d'un Philadelphe dans des Pays nouvellement Découverts (1755), as an island.

FRIEDRICH VON PULUKSHTERL - One of the most conscientious Zoalords; an idealist, who cared for the people under him, even the ones who were not processed. He was murdered by a traitor. His actual name is probably Friedrich von Purgstall, which means he might have been a Freiherr (count) of the Austrian town of Purgstall sometime in the 18th century.

LI YENTSUI - Another loyal Zoalord; he was killed by the Gigantic Dark while protecting the Arizona Relic. It has been suggested his name should actually be transliterated as Rienzi; Rienzi was a Italian who wanted to reinstate the Roman empire in the 14th century.

TUAHA DE GALENOS - The most mysterious Zoalord, as well as the largest in his base form, which seems barely human; his skin appears to be segmented or cracked.

EDWARD CARLEON - A tall, rather suave-looking man with a mane of black hair; as yet, nothing is known about him.

KABLAR KHAN - A tiny, wizened figure, who perpetually hovers in mid-air. He is one of the three Zoalords who plan to betray Archanfel.

JEARVILL BUN HIYERN - Perhaps a Persian or Pakistani, he is the second of the three treacherous Zoalords.

LUGGNAGG KURUMEGNIK - Appears like a tall, gaunt Indian yogi or fakir; he is the third of the three traitors, and possibly the one who actually murdered Pulukshterl. The name Luggnagg refers to "Gullivers Travels", where it was the name of the land of the immortals.

RICHARD GUYOT - He was processed last of the original twelve, and was supposed to be one of the most powerful among their number. He was the first Zoalord who attempted to betray Archanfel, but his betrayal was discovered and his Zoacrystal was torn out. Although he survives, he can no longer be considered a Zoalord without it.

IMAKARUM MIRABILIS - although once Masaki Murakami, one of the most active enemies of Chronos, he was killed by Guyot, and was reborn through the hand of Archanfel to take the place of the traitor. He seems to be the second most powerful Zoalord. He shares a deep and intimate empathic bond with Archanfel.

After centuries of steady growth in power and numbers, until they were the undisputably most powerful beings in the world, in less than two years since the emergence of the Guyver their ranks are torn by loss and betrayal. Whether or not the cabal of the twelve can realize their destiny, remains to be seen.

Finally - a word has to be said about the "Zoa-Lady" - GRISELDA, a young woman who has undergone the proto-Zoalord process. Shizu Onuma, confidante and unquestioning servant of Guyver III, allowed herself to be turned into the only female Zoalord, knowing it would drastically shorten her lifespan. Thus far, it appears any special abilities she might possess have been sacrificed in lieu of enormous psychic power that allows her to exert control over large numbers of Zoanoids even against the influence of dr.Barcas.

History
Of the origional intended ZoaLord twelve of Alkanphel, Richard Guyot was the last to become a member, and the last to be processed. His processing into a ZoaLord was overseen by ZoaLord Dr. Hamical Barcus. Various protozoalord test bodies for the Guyot form were processed and tested by Dr. Yamamura. During the processing of Richard Guyot, Dr. Yamamura led an assault of protozoalords in an attempt to assasinate Guyot. The attempt was thwarted by the ZoaLord's themselves. It is also believed that while Richard Guyot was being processed he was visited personally by Alkanphel. Guyot would have been unconcious, yet the use of Alkanphel's telepathic abilities has been suggested.

Five years after his origional ZoaLord processing, Guyot organized the Chronos Japanese Branch analysis of the 'Unit-G'. This was a curiosity, despite the previous analysis of the artifact, but proceeded due to the loss of all Unit-G data. Upon arrival of the Unit-G at the Chronos Japanese Branch, the Unit-G themselves were stolen. Richard Guyot assumed command of the Japanese Branch in a bid to recover what was soon realised as the Boost Armor (AKA Guyver), as reported to exist by ZoaLord Alkanphel.

After the destruction of the Chronos Branch, Commander Guyot's zeal to recover the Guyver Units raised the suspiciouns of Dr. Hamical Barcus. The Council of ZoaLord were summoned to the Relics point Chronos base at Mt. Mina Kami. It was revealed that Commander Guyot already held a 'Unit Remover', and had been plotting to obtain a Guyver Unit for the expressed purpose of overthrowing Alkanphel.

In the destruction of the Relics point incident, Alkanphel confronted Guyot. Guyot's attempt to murder Alkanphel was met by Alkanphel ripping the zoacrystal from Guyot's body. Guyot, whom was already severly injured from his fight with guyver subjects 1 and 3, fell into the remnants of the Relics point base. It was at this point he was assumed to have died.

Spoiler---- Richard Guyot has again resurfaced. It is currently unknown as to how he has recovered from his injuries, though it appears he is not fully recovered.

History
The first of the ZoaLords to be chosen by Alkanphel. Previously, Dr. Hamical Balcus had been a sea vessel Captain of a Dutch merchant vessel circa 1600. It was the loss of his vessel in the Island of Sihla that led him to Alkanphel's temple. Upon his awakening, Dr. Balcus was commanded to recreate the knowledge and power of the creators for Alkanphel.

After becoming the first zoalord of Alkanphel, the two of them then travelled the world, gathering the resources to build the foundation of the Chronos organization. In Arizona specifically, Balcus was introduced, and placed in trust of, an almost dead relic of ancient creator technology. It was from such relics that the doctor gleaned his scientific knowledge.

Since his inception into Alkanphel's divine twelve, Dr. Hamical Balcus has been the basis for nearly every scientific advancment of 'zoaform' technology. From the invention of the 'processing tube', the most basic zoanoids, the hyperzoanoid team five, and even many of the zoalord forms themselves; Dr. Balcus has proved his bio-technical superiority time and again. Surprisingly, what is even considered one of his greatest failures, the reprocessing of Lost Number Aptom can be called a marvel of genetic resequencing genious. Dr. Balcus has even been extensively involved in the formation of the bio spaceship, the Ark.
